How to block a website on Google Chrome? (READ DESCRIPTION)?

I've researched and looked and I need some new answers.

BlockIt, a Google chrome extension, doesn't do anything anymore and won't block websites.

I've tried using HOSTS but I have vista and whenever I try to save it denies me access.

Please help me! I'm so frustrated D:How to block a website on Google Chrome? (READ DESCRIPTION)?
Use the HOSTS file in Vista: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hostsvis鈥?/a>

Have you tried editing it in safe mode? Restart you computer and keep pressing F8.

Also try the following example, try to take ownership of the file:

Vista and 7 has an inbuilt administrator account which is hidden in default.

Before using hosts, activate that account by using the following link

Now you can edit hosts after activation of administrator account.

Note: There is a freeware application called Cyberoids Web Blocker which can block sites. But for using that, you should be an administrator as told above. Complete the above step and then go to

and download Cyberoids Web Blocker. It is powerful and has a inbuilt databaseHow to block a website on Google Chrome? (READ DESCRIPTION)?
add the website or IP address to your Host file. open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and right click the host file. use wordpad to edit it. at the bottom of the host file you will see a section that says "localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself" add the IP address or website there. Once you have added a site to your host file if you try and access that site you will be looped back to yourself, unable to acess that particular website.
What are you trying to block? Chrome and HOSTS are two very different things. Please give more details.

If you're going down the HOSTS option, you need to run with admin settings.

I sincerely hope your problem is not trying to wrangle out of Copyright.
