Hi, I'm trying to install Cleeki to google chrome, I have done everything but when I clicked on the Cleeki.crx I selected Google chrome to open it as default, I later learned you don't supposed to do this, so when I try to open it through chrome it just opens it downloaded in another tab which does nothing. How can I remove the file association with the .crx to nothing?Google chrome Cleeki extension cant install.?
I suggest you read Cleeki's blog (http://blog.cleeki.com/?p=70) to ensure you followed the right steps.
In any case, here is an alternative manual way (note this works for Cleeki 1.6.0. Don't know further version).
1. Make sure you have downloaded the .crx file.
2. You can use 7zip to unzip the file and get two files:cleekiagent.js and manifest.json.
3. Located to "C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions", where [User] is the your windows user name.
4. if you see a folder named "d9c14d5833b511debb443c2c56d895930123456鈥?that means the add-on has been installed. If for any reason you want to start from scratch, delete all of its content BUT keep the folder.
5. If you didn't see the folder "d9c14d5833b511debb443c2c56d895930123456鈥?create it.
6. Under the folder, create a text file named "Current Version" with content "1.6.0".
7. Under the folder, create a folder named "1.6.0".
8. Copy the unziped file (cleekiagent.js and manifest.json) into the folder "1.6.0".
That's it.
Start your chrome to check. Note the first page (you home page) might not work. This is a google-confirmed bug in chrome.
